This Arto-tale comes to you from Debbie Shannon, the Vice President of Education at the The Kentucky Center.

“Nine-year-old Miranda (Mimi) Jarfi is a big supporter of the Art*O*Mat machine in The Kentucky Center lobby. Mimi is the daughter of Jeff Jarfi, owner of The Center’s Restaurant, Jarfi’s Bistro. While spending time hanging out with her father at the restaurant, she’s become quite an authority on the Art*O*Mat.

She has convinced her father to give her jobs at the restaurant to fund her art habit. So far this summer, Mimi has earned enough money to purchase 14 art works, by washing dishes, cooking, working as hostess, and cleaning tables. In her own words, the Art*O*Mat is, “a cool way of expressing yourself, if you like art.”

Her collection resides on a special shelf of her bookcase in her bedroom. Mimi names all of the pieces according to what’s on her mind and what they remind her of. One of her most recent purchases was christened Chocolate Thunder, while others are named after her moods such as Smooth and Rocky. She even named one after a Jarfi’s employee, Carl. Her favorite works to collect are the three-dimensional works.

Her collection has been a great topic of conversation for her whole family to enjoy. In the future, she hopes to see her older brother’s artwork in the machine.”

Love to Mimi!
