What is an Art-o-mat® Swap Meet?

This is a relaxed, Saturday afternoon event where current and former Art-o-mat artists are invited to show off their work and share their artistic philosophies. This will be a rare opportunity for residents of the Twin Cities to meet some of the artists who have made the Art-o-mat project possible.

Such gatherings are termed a “Swap Meet” based on the first public gathering of Art-o-mat® artists in 1999. This was a festival type event set up in the parking lot of Mary’s of Course….the original Art-o-mat venue. Many of the attending artists had never met other participating artists. One unique thing that happened that day was the trading of Art-o-mat work. Each artist eventually walked away with a nice collection of small art.

This will also be in conjunction with our second Art-o-mat Installation in Minneapolis!

Our host will be Boynton Health Services on the University of Minnesota. The official kickoff of this machine will be on April 15th from 5:00-7:00 pm.

If you are an artist interested in becoming involved and creating work for the Art-o-mat, either event will be a good chance to check things out, ask questions, share concepts, etc.
